The Quiet part out loud since Nixon, J Edgar Hoover, Bush; COIN warfare on the Left, opium warfare and mass incarceration, less-than-lethal restraining agents and disruption, no-touch torture, mass surveillance and mass disinformation, radicalization, voter manipulation, suppression algorithms, AI modeling, prediction, manipulation, FISA secret courts, and now overt Counterinsurgency warfare, ICE covert militarized police, State terror
Both President Trump and VP Vance have declared an “attack” on “far-Left terrorist organizations” they believe are responsible for the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Examples of organizations they vow to target so far are: George Soros’ pro-democracy NGO, the Ford Foundation, antifa, and “The Nation” magazine- in publication for 150 years. What does this language mean? How can past use of the Presidency’s war powers against the Left- largely kept secret- help us understand the use- and abuse of power these public servants are saying they intend to order the Federal government to undertake, to “attack” “far-Left terrorists”? Anti-war activists have been targeted for secret COIN war since Nixon- a power of the President to declare war! What about Congress? Congress gave the President nearly unlimited war power in 2001- renewed in 2024 (see below)! First, war powers are used not only by the military- against other nations and their militaries- but US intelligence agencies. US Intel wages “asymmetric” war- both small unit/tactical and guerilla conventional warfare and also secret counterintelligence and counterinsurgency warfare against individuals and organizations suspected of being “threats” to the country. Nixon used the CIA and its contractors against Democrats and his domestic political “enemies” as well and started a precedent of GOP Presidents using US Intel for domestic political operations including changing the outcomes of elections, create longer and longer enemies list. J. Edgar Hoover infamously used Cointelpro to target his “enemies” as well; famously MLK, to slander and harass him and his family, followers, the whole civil rights movement, and even tried to blackmail King to commit suicide. King was assassinated exactly one year after his first anti-Vietnam war rally; Hoover called him “public enemy number one”. This had a precise legal meaning under Cointelpro warfare- a target for destruction. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/nov/30/henry-kissinger-chile-argentina-south-america https://www.lib.berkeley.edu/about/news/fbi https://scholarship.law.georgetown.edu/facpub/2214/ https://theintercept.com/2019/10/22/terrorism-fbi-political-dissent/ https://ccrjustice.org/torture-us-prisons https://cldc.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/COINTELPRO.pdf https://the-history-avenue.eu/2024/05/06/zersetzung-a-sinister-cold-war-weapon-of-silent-destruction/
Intel agencies use subversion, lies, theft, poisons, torture, skullduggery, fraud, any form of violence, informants, vigilantes, provocateurs, drugs, sex, mass surveillance, espionage to “divide, discredit, degrade, disrupt, and destroy” their “suspected” targets, threats, “enemies”. They routinely recruit family, even/especially spouses and children to gather information- and to physically and emotionally harm their targets, frequently breaking up families with the goal or isolating their targets. If they can find criminal activity or elicit it they will prosecute and make prison abusive, destructive. They have perfected harassment and no-touch/no evidence “white” torture as well as “less than lethal” “restraining agents”, sleep deprivation, sensory overload, medical/dental maltreatment, physical depredation of living conditions, radicalization algorithms, “accidents”, job loss, financial ruin, reputation destruction, and on and on. This is what “disruption, destruction” warfare ops mean in action. (Yes, families, friends and other “network associates” are “fair game” too. Yes, collective punishment- (and torture too) of non-combatants- a war crime.) https://scholarworks.iu.edu/journals/index.php/iusburj/article/view/29381 https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/fbi-targets-new-generation-black-activists https://www.theguardian.com/world/commentisfree/2016/may/02/solitary-confinement-is-solitary-confinement-is-torture-6×9-cells-chelsea-manningno-touch-torture-and-it-must-be-abolished https://phr.org/news/enhanced-interrogation-architect-dr-james-mitchells-testimony-at-guantanamo-highlights-his-role-in-u-s-torture-debasement-of-psychological-ethics-phr/ https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2017-43722-000 https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/voices/taking-responsibility-torture-afghanistan
75 years ago Congressman Nixon and the Un-American Activities Committee- with cooperation by the FBI and or CIA, brought the “Cold War” home to US Citizen targets by the witch hunt for “communists”. Hoover’s FBI was part of this war against the Left, just as they fought against gay rights and civil rights activists. 20 years later President Nixon also used war powers of the Presidency to declare war against “drugs” which was, according to his aide John Ehrlichman, really a war against Blacks and the Left, to put enough of his “enemies” in mass incarceration and to disenfranchise them, “disrupt, destroy” their lives, that the minority party Right, GOP would stay in power. Reagan vastly expanded this secret COIN war, and used drugs sales by “contractors” to finance his illegal warfare in Central America, and buy arms from our enemy Iran. CIA Director Bush expanded the “war on drugs”- opium warfare against Blacks and anti-war protesters, to include a cocaine epidemic which ravaged Blacks in the inner cities and caused a huge crime wave (which Bush tried to use as a failed reason to take a second term as President.) https://www.quora.com/Why-did-Mike-Pompeo-say-We-lied-we-cheated-we-stole-We-had-entire-training-courses-It-reminds-you-of-the-glory-of-the-American-experiment-Is-there-any-background-I-need-to-understand-beyond-the-literal-meaning https://irp.fas.org/congress/1998_cr/980507-l.htm https://www.businessinsider.com/nixon-adviser-ehrlichman-anti-left-anti-black-war-on-drugs-2019-7 https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/NSAEBB/NSAEBB2/index.html https://www.aclu.org/us-torture-complicity-and-accountability https://www.businessinsider.com/nixon-adviser-ehrlichman-anti-left-anti-black-war-on-drugs-2019-7 https://history.wisc.edu/publications/the-politics-of-heroin-cia-complicity-in-the-global-drug-trade/
It gets much worse. 25 years ago after 9/11/01 Bush Jr. and Cheney continued the work of ex-CIA Director Bush in warfare against Blacks and the Left, falsely blaming Iraq for the 9/11 attacks and quickly gaining nearly unlimited war power- and war funding “off the books, off budget”- an estimated $8-9 trillion!- for the “war on terror”. And Cointelpro became a much more violent and far ranging COIN warfare no-touch torture/severe harassment/”disruption/destruction” and increased hybrid warfare/psy ops/”agitprop” operations against Democratic politicians/cities/states/society in general- Gen’s Petraeus and Floyd were demoted for psyops against Congressmen, President Obama for example and they should have been tried for war crimes for their “counterinsurgency” warfare using mass torture. (Buttigieg, DeSantis were part of this op- still seem to have Intel backing-Google it. Bush/Cheney actually found guilty of war crimes, Cheney for graft.) https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/9/29/1888450/-Trump-D-s-deny-discredit-discount-deflect-delay-deceive-divide-dulcify-distract-destroy-denigrate https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/nov/03/fbi-leaks-hillary-clinton-james-comey-donald-trump https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/a35397/bush-cheney-war-crimes/ https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/NSAEBB/NSAEBB2/index.html https://www.theatlantic.com/international/2013/03/guardian-david-petraeus-iraq-torture/317683/ https://www.jasss.org/20/4/11.html https://grist.org/protest/keystone-pipeline-fbi-government-documents/ https://costsofwar.watson.brown.edu/ https://theintercept.com/2023/03/19/george-bush-iraq-lies-trump/
The Patriot Act and Sec. 702 authorities were quickly used against Bush/GOP “enemies”: the usual suspects Blacks, the Left, unions, Muslims, immigrants (Browns), environmentalists, Native Americans (pipeline protesters). These authorities are still largely in operation 25 years later in use against US Citizens- and now a new Round 2 days ago by Trump/Vance ffor anyone “celebrating”/ “causing” the death of Charlie Kirk or “targeting” the Right/GOP/MAGA/Trump . https://www.aclu.org/press-releases/court-rules-warrantless-section-702-searches-violated-the-fourth-amendment https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/sep/23/revealed-how-the-fbi-targeted-environmental-activists-in-domestic-terror-investigations
What will Trump/Vance “war on the Left wing terrorists” look like? COIN warfare, “cointelpro 2.0” against Democrats using all the dirty tricks, violence, and the new: mass internet surveillance and prediction, influence, modeling, targeting IT like Palantir. FBI/CIA/Police Blue city fusion centers, militarized police, forward operating bases, urban warfare tools of war and war-trained fighters like Atlanta’s “Cop City”, ICE masked anonymous (Right wing/partisan/white nationalist) little green men backed by Red-state national guard targeting: Blacks, immigrants, Native Americans, environmentalists and pipeline protesters, families and even children, and of course the Left- particularly Trump critics, the opinionated and activists, and the NGO ecosystem of human rights and inclusion, pro-democracy, anti-authoritarianism. Also continued to be targeted: any resistance to exploitative type capitalism (anti-capitalist), anti-rich or corporate (“anti-authority”, “anti-order as in law and order) or any “dehumanizing” or”:stochastic violence”- by pointing out the abuses of Right wing propaganda, deceit, graft or any actual Intel, military, warfare, COIN violence, white supremacy and nationalism. Indeed all “extremism” can be targeted for warfare ops to the new Intel “Centrism”, as they still control politics and what acceptable expression in the US, including controlling elections (today’s “center”- is yesterday’s far-Right: Trump. Tea Party. Koch Network (Google Koch oil theft), Gingrich. Bannon, Mercer/Zuck/Cambridge Anlytica election manipulation, Fox/Breitbart. Johnson. McConnell. Podcasters. Evangelicals. Federalist Society. SCOTUS corruption. FISA secret courts. Propaganda and disinformation on Right wing media, Right-wing graft and bribery, oligarchy, Musk $millions throwing elections, and the IT/mass data theft, Theil’s Palantir targeting and murder software (which needs Musk data for war targeting…how long were they planning this?), political ops by the “vengeance Czar”, Vance ties to oligarchs….and COIN war on the Left one more time. https://www.newyorker.com/news/john-cassidy/james-comeys-october-surprise https://nul.org/sites/default/ Destroying DEI https://nul.org/sites/default/files/2025-01/2025_01_20_CIV%20NUL%20DEI%20FAQs%20-%20FINAL_0.pdf https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/09/25/iraq-torture-survivors-await-us-redress-accountability https://crooked.com/podcast/how-peter-thiel-became-the-rights-tech-authoritarian-kingmaker/ https://www.wired.com/story/politics-lab-podcast-elon-musk-donald-trump-victory/ https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/9/29/1888450/-Trump-D-s-deny-discredit-discount-deflect-delay-deceive-divide-dulcify-distract-destroy-denigrate https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty-research/policycast/oligarchy-open-what-happens-now-us-forced-confront-its-plutocracy https://www.business-humanrights.org/it/latest-news/palantir-allegedly-enables-israels-ai-targeting-amid-israels-war-in-gaza-raising-concerns-over-war-crimes/
War authorities since the “War on Terror” still active, used against US citizens:
There is no single consensus on the constitutionality of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and the issue has been debated in courts and Congress for years . However, a significant legal development occurred in January 2025, when a federal district judge ruled that the FBI’s warrantless searches of Americans’ data under Section 702 were unconstitutional under the Fourth Amendment. Key court rulings District court ruling (January 2025): In the case of United States v. Hasbajrami, a federal judge in the Eastern District of New York found that the FBI’s warrantless “backdoor searches” of U.S. persons’ communications were unconstitutional. This was the first time a court had explicitly ruled that these searches violated the Fourth Amendment’s warrant requirement.
The ruling found that the government cannot rely on a “foreign intelligence exception” to bypass the warrant clause when searching incidentally collected data on Americans. Court of Appeals ruling (2019): A Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruling laid the groundwork for the 2025 decision by concluding that queries of Section 702 data concerning people in the U.S. were searches that required Fourth Amendment scrutiny. The heart of the debate The constitutional questions around Section 702 largely center on how intelligence agencies use the information they collect.
Programmatic collection: Section 702 authorizes the government to collect the communications of non-U.S. persons located abroad without a warrant. Incidental collection: This surveillance inevitably sweeps up the communications of U.S. persons who are in contact with targeted foreign individuals.
Warrantless backdoor searches: The FBI and other intelligence agencies have long performed warrantless searches of this incidentally collected data using U.S. person identifiers, a practice critics call a “backdoor search”. Opponents argue that this allows the government to sidestep the warrant requirements that would apply if the information were sought through other investigative means. Arguments regarding unconstitutionality Opponents of Section 702 argue that it is unconstitutional because: It violates the Fourth Amendment by allowing the warrantless search and seizure of Americans’ private communications. It has become a tool for domestic surveillance, rather than being limited to foreign intelligence as intended by Congress. Its secretive nature and one-sided court proceedings undermine meaningful judicial oversight. It chills freedom of speech and association, as people may fear that their communications are being monitored. What this means for the future While the January 2025 ruling by Judge DeArcy Hall is a significant legal challenge, it is important to note: Congress extended Section 702 in April 2024 via the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA), pushing its expiration date to April 20, 2026. The judge in the Hasbajrami case ultimately did not suppress the evidence, meaning the defendant remained behind bars. It is not yet clear what long-term precedent this ruling will set, as it does not apply universally and could be appealed. The legal debate is expected to continue leading up to the 2026 reauthorization deadline, and the ruling will likely intensify calls for Congress to implement a warrant requirement for U.S. person queries.
