The national security industry actually creates insecurity. The U.S. public says it feels high levels of stress, fear, and insecurity compared with other counties. U.S. reputation has dropped, affecting our soft power and security. The constant aggressive action of our security establishment actually creates insecurity and leads to more conflict. Fear, anger, and insecurity are necessary to justify high, war-time levels of spending, deficits, and unproductive use of resources. We don’t end up protecting our homeland from the true high level threats (like the current Pandemic), but instead protect the “interests” of the wealthy and corporations- even corporations which don’t pay taxes, or are not even headquartered in the U.S.
Meanwhile many severe, and serious threats, even existential threats, persist or grow: white collar crime- especially in finance, corruption- especially in politics, defense industries, and critical national security infrastructure, pollution and climate change, nationalism and racism, income inequality, structural minority rule, voter suppression, and the insider threat of a takeover of levers of power by partisan cadres.
As in the 1950s and ’60s, partisans use the pretext of foreign threat and terrorism to carry our secret intelligence warfare against ideological enemies throughout the world, but also counterintelligence warfare against domestic critics, whistleblowers, unions, civil rights leaders, immigrants, environmentalists, animal rights activists, and progressives. They are nearly done putting in place a system of mass surveillance, preemptive policing, mass incarceration, deployment of an army of informants and vigilantes, extrajudicial punishment outside of detention called “disruption”, “control” over dissent. They use the “unitary Executive” power grab, gerrymandering and voter suppression to win the legislature, and “Federalist” politicization of the judiciary, propaganda media, and corporate mass surveillance to achieve unconstitutional control over society, and use police and war power to reach out to “discredit, disrupt, degrade, and destroy” perceived threats from fellow citizens as well as around the globe.
To this threat to peace, Constitutional limits to power, the rule of law, human rights, and human centered ethics- threats to well-being, equity, safety and security- WorldConsul stands opposed and rejects toxic nationalism. We proclaim and defends the solidarity of all World Citizens, our common humanity, and the self-evident rights our Creation endows to all of us; WorldConsul offers a Consul for consultation, counsel, and support to World Citizens and Human Rights Defenders.
