What to Expect, Part III: Trump has already given us a dress rehearsal for four escalating levels of civil/political conflict in the lead up and aftermath of the 2024 election:

Scenario 1) Right wing foreign authoritarians, corporations/US Intel contractors, FBI, Congress or SCOTUS attempts to interrupt, influence the election- high confidence, high likelihood.

Scenario 2) MAGA takes over the Capitol, White House, etc. Lawmakers are intimidated, chaos, election goes back to states, media confusion, disinformation from corporate media, right wing disinformation. Already happened. No data on confidence (speculation based on history) low to moderate likelihood

Scenario 3) Police, military in the streets, armed provocateurs everywhere, shootings start, mass detention, violence, tear gas, rubber bullets, etc. like George Floyd protests; psy ops, information warfare moderate likelihood, especially if Trump loses election. He will certainly call for resistance.

Scenario 4) Tactical teams, men in black arrive at people’s doors, start detention; camps start getting used at military bases in the desert, abandoned malls, armories, etc. Families are split, children orphaned. psy ops, information warfare in media, reporters fired. Protests face military violence like LaFayette Park protest. Trump issues secret orders to military, US Intel to detain, inter protesters, resistance, opposition, and even disappear, kill “enemies” low likelihood but possible

Scenario 5) full counterinsurgency warfare like US and police in Honduras, or Iraq; mass disappearances, torture camps, deportations, MAGA death squads, full civil war aided by Russian, Saudi operatives and contractors. unlikely but possible

Scenario 6) Open Civil War II: Red vs. Blue, the Hunger Games, North vs South- very unlikely but not impossible in some restrained way. It’s already secretly the Right vs. the Left, with US tax dollars supporting unlimited counterinsurgency warfare, mass incarceration, KUBARK torture against the Left- like scenario 5. Unlikely, but non-zero. This is a 4-5 sigma event- 3% likelihood, must be planned for though as failure is catastrophic for individuals/families/groups/employers. It is likely private security contractors and para-government organizations like US Diplomatic Security Overseas Security Advisory Council and the FBI are already quietly issuing prep guidance. https://www.osac.gov/
